Moreover, as some of these titles may seem outdated, we provide a list of titles of the top manga to buy in 2022 (the most appreciated by teenagers and adults right now!)

With his crew of pirates, named the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy explores the Grand Line in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as “One Piece” to become the next King of the Pirates.
Golgo 13 – (300 million) – Author: Takao Saito
Golgo 13, created by Takao Saito, is both the oldest and longest-running manga still being published, as well as the only Seinen manga featured in the top sellers. It also has the highest number of volumes published (201) and has sold over 290 million copies.
Dragon Ball – (300 million) – Author: Akira Toriyama
Many of you may know Dragon Ball as the famous animated TV series that was popular around the time Pokemon started achieving mainstream popularity, but its roots are in the manga. Dragon ball was inspired by Hong Kong martial arts films and the film Journey to the west and followed the adventures of Son Goku, who trains in martial arts so he can find seven dragon balls – magical orbs that summon wish-granting dragons.
Naruto – (250 million) – Author: Masashi Kisimoto
Naruto follows the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who wants recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village. His story is told in two parts – the first set in Naruto’s pre-teen years, and the second in his teens. This manga is well-known for its strong character development, storylines and fight scenes.
Detective Conan – (230 million) – Author: Gosho Aoyama
Detective Conan, also known to some as Case Closed, is a story about a high school detective called Shinichi Kudo who turns into a child while investigating a particularly strange organization. It has sold an estimated 230 million copies and is still in print today, nearing its 100th volume.

In fact, most of the top selling manga reported above started their serialization in late 90’s and 80’s and may appear a bit ‘outdated’ to the current generations. One Piece (Vol. 102)
With over 480 million copies sold, One Piece is by far the most successful manga ever. Eiichiro Oda began this series in 1997 and is still publishing new chapters, though he has stated that he expects the series to finish by 2025. This steampunk manga is also part of one of the highest-grossing media franchises, accumulating a total of $11.3 billion between the manga, anime, video games, and merchandise.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba (Full Box Set Vol. 1-23), 150 Million copies sold
Koyoharu Gotouge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba is simultaneously one of the newest and shortest best-selling manga. Gotouge only published 23 volumes during the manga’s 4-year run but has sold over 150 million copies since it began in 2016. The manga has since been adapted into an anime series and a movie, which is also currently the highest-grossing anime film of all time.
Jujutsu Kaisen (Vol.19)
Yuji Itadori is an expert at track and field. But he has zero interest running around in circles, he’s happy as a clam in the Occult Research Club. Although he’s only in the club for kicks, things get serious when a real spirit shows up at school!
When his grandfather is on his deathbed, Yuji makes a promise to him; that he will do kind deeds so that he dies surrounded by loved ones, unlike his grandfather.
However, Yuji’s life takes a sudden turn as he meets Megumi Fushiguro; a jujutsu sorcerer who tries to retrieve a cursed object. As Fushiguro and Yuji are almost defeated by one of the spirits, Yuji then swallows the cursed object and gains its power. As a result, Yuji becomes cursed by the object and gets dragged into Fushiguro’s thrilling world of jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits.

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2022. In the midst of a wide range of developments, including anime, TV dramas, and original art exhibitions, “JOJO magazine” will be published, with each volume consisting entirely of “Jojo”!
Tokyo Revengers (Vol. 27)
Tokyo Revengers has sold over 30 million copies. When it was first serialised in Weekly Shonen Jump, it was lauded for its super-cool characters, Takemichi as a protagonist who grows as he time leaps, the strong bonds between characters, and the many moving lines that are said throughout the story.
The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki, who lives in a run-down apartment and is treated like a fool by his boss who is younger than him.
