How to get shiny Pokemon on Pokemon Go fast

The definition of shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Go.

Shiny Pokémon are rare variants of Pokémon that are differently colored than other Pokémon of their species. They were firstly introduced as part of the Water Festival Event, with Magikarp and Gyarados, new Shiny Pokémon are added to Pokémon Go with just about every event and Community Day. If you’re lucky, you may randomly encounter Shiny Pokémon in the wild, especially during special events like Community Days or Pokémon GO Fest.

What is the rate of getting a shiny Pokemon on Pokemon Go game?

Every time a player encounters a Pokemon that has a potential shiny form, the game essentially mathematically rolls the dice to determine if the Pokemon encountered will hit the low percentage of being shiny or not.

Because of the way this mechanic works, the best way for Pokemon GO players to encounter shinies in normal non-event play is to increase the volume of Pokemon that are appearing. This primarily applies to encounters in the wild, but the more Research Task encounters and raid boss encounters players have, the more they increase the volume of potential shinies as well. You can find a complete checklist of the shiny Pokemon available on Pokemon Go here.

The shiny rates at Community Day. The Eevee community day example.

Eevee is the main theme of August 2021 Community Day in Pokémon Go, which will sees the highly adaptable Pokémon have increased spawns across an entire weekend (13-15 August 2021).

Community Day events have a heightened Shiny rate for the featured Pokémon, so if you’re playing, you should be able to find several Shiny Eevee. If you don’t have time to play all day, you can find a Shiny Eevee by popping an Incense, and tapping each Eevee that pops up. The Shiny rate on Community Days is approximately 1 in 25.

You’re far more likely to find a shiny version of the highlighted Pokémon on its Community Day – not only because the shiny rate will be higher, but catching more of the same type increases the likelihood of finding one too.

It’s easy to tell when you’ve found a shiny Pokemon because the encounter will begin with a flurry of stars, a ‘shiny’ icon will appear next to its name, and its colouring will be different.

How to evolve Eevee in Pokemon Go gameplay.

Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon all evolve randomly from Eevee. However, Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, and Leafeon have alternative methods.

Umbreon and Espeon both evolve after walking with the Eevee as your buddy Pokémon for 10 kilometers. Once that’s done, the buddy Eevee evolved during the night will yield Umbreon while the day will yield Espeon. Note that when you evolve Eevee, it still needs to be your buddy Pokémon for this trick to work.

Leafeon and Glaceon can both be reliably evolved from spinning a Mossy Lure or a Glacial Lure, respectively. After spinning a Pokéstop with these Lure Modules active, the next Eevee you will evolve will become its leaf or ice form. Note that you need to be in range of the Lure Module. You will see the chosen Eevee evolution icon change once you’ve spun one of these lured Pokéstops.

Sylveon will evolve after being set as your buddy Pokémon and earning 70 hearts with it. This will take several days of play, but you can speed up the process by using Poffins.

Speed up the catching rate on Pokemon Go.

Go into the Settings screen, scroll down to the “AR” section and make sure “Niantic AR” is not checkmarked. Then, instead of using the regular encounter mode the next time you click a Pokémon, switch on AR mode using the toggle in the upper right of the encounter screen. AR Mode replaces that field-and-forest background with whatever your phone’s camera is pointing at.

In regular mode, you start zoomed in on the Pokemon, overlaid with the message, ‘A wild Pokemon appeared!’ From there the game stalls a moment, the camera swoops up and backwards to adjust your perspective, and then the user interface (UI) appears. You have to wait for that UI to pop in with your berries, your Poké Balls, and most importantly, the run button. You can’t leave the encounter until the camera finishes moving.

Save time with AR mode.

When you click into an encounter with AR on, the entire UI loads all at once. There’s no stall and no camera swoop, so the moment you see that the Pokémon isn’t shiny, you can run immediately and move onto the next one.

It sounds like a tiny difference, but multiplied over dozens or hundreds of Pokémon in a day it’s actually huge. In multi-hour events like Safari Zones and Community Days, it usually buffs my number of shiny encounters by 50 percent or more. All those seconds you save really add up.
